The rule of three quarters: Winter is Coming Again
It seems that lately should continue to citations, with the risk of sounding pedantic more than it already is. Not later than the day before yesterday I wrote :
"[...] when a media generalist, I hear of a topic that for some reason I know well, in at least three quarters of cases There are at least of the inaccuracies, if not the colossal nonsense. "
Here: this article Kataweb (accessible from the homepage of Republic ) speaks of the forthcoming HBO series is the wonderful saga A Song of Ice and Fire *, which I have already spoken in more of a ' opportunity here on the blog. Unfortunately in a few lines summarizing the complicated books GRRM is impossible, so trust me: the rate of bullshit / line is staggering and shows not only that the author, this Benedetta Perilli has never read the books (and this is understand, read three thousand pages to write a short article on the Web would be impossible) but even a good summary. Just a couple of gems: the Stark family not "play to win the throne area [...]" The Night Watch are not an "enemy camp" and the Barrier is not a mythical land which is the border line "between the civilized lands and the North. It is then clear what is meant by "plot Intrigue (sic) and complex that it faithfully reflects almost (sic) Martin's novels, it is not clear why it is said that at the beginning, the saga of Martin has little to do with The Lord of the Rings and a few lines after Game of Thrones "gives a nod to Tolkien's saga, and especially it is not clear what the c'entrino Soprano, remember even in the title.
last little observation: of Thrones and The Great Winter are the first two "episodes" of the saga of Martin only in the Italian **, meaning that they are the two volumes in which our forward-thinking publishers have divided the first book A Game of Thrones .
those circumstances, it is obvious and predictable that on April 17 it will drop the nets in the creek to fish for fresh fresh episode.
* George, please: I need A Dance with Dragons ! (And, of course, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring ...)
** correct me, as you can see from this page , we were not just us Italians to divide the first book.

smartphones: NokiaSoft
The news of the day in the ICT sector is certainly the announcement that Nokia will adopt for its Windows smartphone Phone 7. In my previous post I had been a prophet to predict the easy abandonment of Symbian, but I admit that I regret the choice a bit '. The Finns could realistically choose between WP7 or Android, and in the second case, when my new LG was dead, I'd gladly come back to buy Nokia. So, I think who have permanently lost a loyal customer (I would almost say the Taliban). Mind you, I'm not an expert in telephony, much less to the economy, so I imagine that before choosing the Nokia executives have made their views, I have more experience with WP7 that can be measured in seconds, so do not pretend of judging, but as I said talking about Android vs iOS , the same user experience I always choose an open source solution *. Then it gives me a perverse sort of joy, mixed with a little 'sincere regrets to see that the news of the collaboration with Microsoft has not been accepted very well in his bag .
PS The picture is from there right site Wired.com and I find it absolutely brilliant.
* Both on my desktop on my netbook running Windows 7: I'm sorry for Linux, which I used and still use it yet, but when the user experience is not the level of Windows.

How To Heal Rash From Brazilian
Universal Sold ... um ... Charger
Act Corrierone that finally this year from mobile phones sold in the EU must be compatible with a universal charger. Great news, in a much smaller scale is the very idea of the Euro, and I'm always in favor of anything that can eliminate an unnecessary complication of our lives. And more will disappear from the market those hideous contraptions ragniformi vaguely like the picture on the left, which for me as arachnophobia not hurt.
But reading the article I had a question: is it possible that anyone in the online writing is thought to say what the heck is the standard chosen for the universal charger? There are only two references, one above the title, which says, "chose the model with USB connection" in a text, which says, uncertain correlation with gender: "[...] the new universal charger through a small USB interface. just a shame that there are six (6) types of "USB" which was chosen?
* E 'observation that I've done several times: when a Average general feeling about a subject that for some reason I know well, in at least three quarters of cases there are at least of the inaccuracies, if not the colossal nonsense. Question: when they talk about topics that do not know (well) the percentage inaccuracies / mistakes / it's the same shit?

Average Clothes Size For America
Teaser trailer
This night will be played on Super Bowl XLV . I do not follow American football, so the more that I am curious what the sporting media, in particular with regard to advertising, my passion. You know, the Super Bowl is by far the most expensive advertising space on the planet (for 30 seconds this year will cost $ 3 million ), and often presented the spot entered in the history of communication: one on all the Apple's famous 1984 . But I think the only Ienco could be the idea of making the trailer for spot. As I said, I repeat: for some (many) things the U.S. of A are ahead of us decades. Whether this is good, as usual, I let my twelve readers to decide.

Home Sleep Study Business Model
Book (s) Rece: Discworld
Some time ago, I wrote on the blog have started reading the books in the Discworld series of , and given their number, I would be limited to storylines of Rincewind and Death . Obviously it was not so, because after the first three or four books, I wondered "how the hell did I miss them so far?" and I became completely dependent *, beginning the complete reading of the entire series in strict order of publication. At the time I finished 15 of 38 books that make up the core series (33, if we exclude those for young adults who still read), and have not found one yet that has disappointed me. And indeed, proved to be a lot more than I expected, in every sense.
Meanwhile, as defined Discworld comic fantasy is like saying that Bach was a good organist : true, but terribly reductive. The fantasy is simply the way he has chosen to speak of Pterry our world, and from film to religion, sex, death, theater and fairy tales, there is very little over which he has to say something interesting. It's funny, because as I said is not only Discworld comic fantasy, but it's also fantasy comic and talent of Sir Terry in this is really superfine. Suffice Death to give immortality to the series and its author, but the books are full of characters at least as successful: Nanny Ogg, Rincewind, Carrot Ironfoundersson (a dwarf feet high and ninety-eight) and Nobby ... and then there Granny Weatherwax , comic and tragic as all the great characters of literature.
Why is this literature, and the highest level: whoever is able to address issues such as the Inquisition, religious freedom and the meeting of cultures with the lightness and the depth of a book like Small Gods you can afford it (pardon the French) shit on his head all Margaret Mazzantini of this world.
Finally, language: Pratchett has an ear for the written word ** truly fabulous, as evidenced this anthology of quotations (which of course only until I trawled the books I've read) and always gives me the impression of having fun as hell while writing, which usually results in at least as much fun for the reader.
What to add? Ah yes, of course, be read in Discworld English, and have been translated into Italian because less than half the books in the series (the first 12, more Man at Arms, Feet of Clay young adults and the first 4 ) and because very often Pterry plays with language, and would be untranslatable ***.
* For citations
, I would say that we are easily over 700 mN.
** No, not an error: Pterry is one of the few writers who can really make you feel what they are writing, and is one of the best dialogues ever read.
*** Less than continuing to use footnotes page, which could be in conflict with those - superb - the same Pratchett.

How Long For Money Once Probate
Android or: How I Learned to Stop Using Love and Nokia Smartphones
Last Friday, due to an unfortunate and mysterious accident that the display has disintegrated, my old and glorious Nokia 3600 slide was forced to forced early retirement. I already had in mind when the 3600 had reached its natural end, to betray Nokia * for an Android smartphone , so I quickly put in the hunt for a fair cost with a contraption that would allow me to try the green robot. I focused on 'LG Optimus GT540, which all'accettabilissimo price 169 Euri (exactly what I had paid 3600 in 2008) offers everything I was looking for: a good 3 MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS , FM radio with RDS and the rest of the package Android. I will not go into technical and because I do not have the skills, is tedious, as you risk (more than it already is, I mean), but use half a day was enough to transform into a converted . Optimus that I bought has certainly its limitations in the display, even if a good sensibility, can not compete with that of an iPhone, the camera has no flash, and 3 MP only beginning to be acceptable to a mobile phone ** and some configuration options may be more immediate, I have not managed to understand how GPS works, but for 169 euros and definitely a great purchase. And, unlike the iPhone is a phone that gives the impression of being owned by the user, and not only on loan to use: The battery can be replaced, you can connect via Bluetooth to any compatible device and not just another iPhone, you can also install third party apps and not only (but fully stocked) Android Market. In short, it is a smartphone open it, as it opened its OS. Mind you, I think the iPhone is more revolutionary tecnoaggeggio in recent years (much dell'iPad or iPod), and even though I've only tried a couple owned by friends (ehm. ..) I greatly enjoyed , but the open source philosophy behind Android I like a lot more of ' hortus conclusus of Apple, and because the user experience seems at least comparable, the choice is easy. And I'm sorry for Nokia, but I will not give the impression that if short-Symbian, will not go away. The difference with IOS and Android is embarrassing.
And then, something that apparently is not so predictable lately , put my LG 170 phone Euri even better than an iPhone that costs three times as much.
Ah, it seems superfluous to add that neither LG, neither Nokia nor Apple have never given me a dime or a telephone to try.
* I speak of treason because those who know me know that I've always been a fundamentalist of the Finnish: the 5 phones I've owned so far (the mythical 3210, 3310, 3510 , 6610th and, specifically, 3600) were all from Espoo, and in testimony to their excellent quality, are all still (except the last) in perfect working order.
** I know it's paradoxical: only 10 years ago was the Canon EOS D30 to have a 3MP sensor, and now are barely sufficient for a cell phone
